The Dragon Star
Part 1
The wars between Dragon & Titan came to an end. The children of Fire & Wind defeated the children of Earth & Water. The Dragons slew the ancient Titans to the last of their kin, & felt no sorrow upon the passing of these once powerful rivals. Instead they continued to lust for the magical blood found in the lost frames of Titans & the hearts of the Immortals. But in their arrogance, to call the gods to earth for conflict, they began to destroy the mortal children of the Gods.
After the Cataclysm the gods of man saw the Dragons to be a great threat. The gods created the Dragon Crowns. The gods created one crown for each of the Ancient Kings of yore, seven in all. The dragons power matched that of the Gods themselves, so the left the mortals with these crowns to defend themselves. They would use this as to test the strength of their children. They left man to his wits. Dragons swept over the land in search of the crowns. The budding realms of man were swept by Dragonfire . Goblinkine ruled the ruins. Out of these dark times a trio came forth to quell the onslaught of the dragons. An elven Archmage known only as Dark Star, a half-elven swordsman called Lorien Triestiendirth, more commonly known as Rath the Destroyer, and a human rouge by the title of Herbert the Swift. They became legends.
There were only two crowns left after three thousand years of conflict with the dragons, these artifacts were all that held the terrible power of the great Elder-Wyrms in check. For without the crowns to control the eldest of Dragons, the gods of mortals would have stood little chance at survival. One was lost whilst the other the trio retrieved from the Ancient Vault of Dullin Thaines, tomb of the supposed first Dwarven king, for this Dwarves and Elves fought for seven hundred years afterward. Herbert was known ever after as the greatest of the thieves, for without his cunning talents the crown would have surely been destroyed by the Elder Wyrm - Anthrax.
Dark Star was now very great in power & several hundred years old himself. He raised land into the sky, creating another sky island of glittering light and glass in the shape of a dragon. Whilst Rath called the dragons to him by means of one of the last crowns, no mean feat. Only he possessed enough strength of will to resist the tempting powers of the crown. The intangible qualities of being able to resist the great magiks at work from the archmage Darkstar, the Dragon Star Island and the Crown itself and being able to resist the dreaded Dragon Fear without being torn asunder or faltering is to be considered. He as well possessed the physical power and skill in battle to avoid being slain by the dragons upon their approach of the trapped island in the heavens.
The Archmage then laid a curse upon the dragons on the island that they lay in slumber for eternity. Some say he did it for his own reasons and not from a sense of well being for his fellow man. Because the next mention of him is fifteen years later as a god himself, serving the greater forces of Merlin as an emissary of magical force itself – an Archon of the Gods. Rath gained a true agelessness and some claim an inability to meet a final death by the hand of mortal or magical steel or to be affected by any known sorcery. He is said to still wander the realms to this day. And Lord Herbert vanished into obscurity once he reached Felltrest. Some say he was behind the founding of the ancient organization, the Order of the Blackhand, but no evidence aside from the words of old senile storytellers substantiates any claim to this. To date there have been rumors spread of a search for the last crown upon the awakening of the Elder Wyrms by Magius Bloodstone. What end will come of this? Was the imprisoning of these dread creatures simply a delay of an inevitable & terrible end?
