The Story of Lynndalla's Love
As told by the old Drow
"This is a story of the lady of the tower, Lynndalla. Mind you this all happened some time ago. Legend has it that Lynndalla was madly in love with Laxus, her husband, and he too shared her love. But over the years Lynndalla forgot the true reason Laxus loved her and over the years became convinced that it was her captivating beauty and grace. She then became concerned that Laxus may lose interest in her. "So she spoke with her mage about crafting a relic of magic to enhance her beauty. But this mage was a sly one, and deeply jealous. Time and time again he tried to win Lynndalla's heart but each time failed, for the bond between the two was great. "In a last chance effort, the sly mage agreed to make the relic all in hope it would win her heart. But as I said, he was sly. Around both Lynndalla's neck and Laxus's, they wore stones that represented their love for each other. These stones were called the Heart of Lynndalla, and the Heart of Laxus. The mage knew that if he was to win Lynndalla's heart, he would have to find a way to get her to remove the Heart stone. "Finally, when the mage presented the relic to Lynndalla, she was gravely disappointed, for the relic was a necklace, and would have to replace her Heart. "But if you do not wear the relic," the mage pressed, "Laxus will never love you!" "With that, Lynndalla discarded her heart for the relic. New beauty coursed through Lynndalla, making her far more beautiful and graceful than anyone in the land.
When she confronted her husband, she was shocked to find Laxus was disappointed in Lynndalla for discarding her Heart for a mere trinket. "Now what happens next is a mystery in itself. Laxus shed but a single tear, but before Lynndalla could apologize for her pettiness, Laxus turned to stone. Some say that the sorrow of his heart was to much to bear, and it turned his mortal flesh to stone. Others claim it was a curse of the mage, finding that his plan would fail. "After witnessing her husband petrify, Lynndalla flew into a state of madness. She killed the servants of her tower, and set it ablaze. "To this day, legend has it to those who bring the two Hearts together would receive treasure and wealth, for the two lovers would finally be together again.
"But be warned, Lynndalla still inhabits the tower, waiting for her dear love, Laxus."
