Talixana _________ Umcarae
Human, greater nobility, ___________
On the day of her birth, Talixa was 61st in line for the throne of ______. On her 36th birthday, she was 84th. Today, one year later, she is 12th. Queen Hildae the 4th is insane. Members of the Queen's guard, seeking greater power, assassinate noble families on her every whim. The Queen has been wronged by a look, a word or even a smile.
To Talixa's eternal shame, the captain of the Queen's guard and the chief assassin is her own uncle, Ballwin Umcarae. _________'s tradition of marrying children up or down so that brothers might be far apart in the ruling line sounds wise. Children whose elders see strong defects are easily married down. In the hands of a tyrant, though, this is cause for greater bloodshed.
Talixa has kept an eye on Ballwin for years. Her twin brothers were killed in a “hunting accident” on his farm 18 years ago. Until Queen Hildae took the throne, the guard seemed stable and there were few violent deaths among the ruling line.
Talixa's father was Baron Umcare of __________. She spent her adult life commanding his troops, guarding the border with ___________ and staying far away from her uncle. She owns two small merchant ships, secretly, but all communication with them and her command has been lost.
Today, she is Tulina Slaughter (link). A retired military captain. She still carries her military crossbow, perhaps not completely aware of how much it stands out here. It hasn't left her hand for 18 years, and after loosing so much, she is loathe to loose more. Though it does put her in greater danger.
Three months ago, Baron Umcare and all of his household and Barony was slaughtered by the Queen's guard. The family was not caught unawares, and Talixa did receive a message by bird. It was too late. She took a small band of 20 and quickly returned home to find a burned village and a poisoned well. No man, woman or child was spared. Her command was half the size of the Queen's guard, and she was anxious to stamp them out. However, serving in the guard is the only way for peasants to earn a bit of land and the guard's magic is strong. The idea of bits of the Barony going to peasant assassins is repulsive. She would love to stand and fight. Still, she took looked hard at the situation and decided to run.
She sent all her men home to assess the country, bought fighter's garb and a second set of armor and booked passage on a quick, quiet ship to Tyr.
She landed one day before meeting up with the party.
She has the very best armor her family could buy for her 18 years ago. Her Falchion was a gift from her king for squashing boarder skirmishes four years ago.
